About the Boat

"Dick's
Folly" at the project base on the Grand Union Canal, Hunton Bridge,
close to Abbots Langley and Watford
Dick's Folly was purpose built to the design of the
Project. The boat accommodates a maximum of 12 passengers (see notes on accommodation
for more details). She is a traditional built narrowboat, laid in 1987 and fitted
out during 1988. Internally, the pine cladding provides a warm and cosy
atmosphere. It should be noted that the boat is not designed for
wheelchair use. However we strive to cater for any other disabilities,
where we can do so in safety.

Accommodation
Self Steer groups
Accommodation provides for a maximum of twelve passengers
including two crew (who are normally trained adult leaders of the group).
Project provided crew
Accommodation for up to 12
passengers + Project Crew.
While
accommodation is comfortable and adequate, space is limited. All sleeping accommodation
is in bunk beds. The four cabins are separated by curtains.

Our base offers secure, off street parking for several vehicles for those
using the boat. The site has water, electricity, a barbeque and rubbish
disposal/ recycling. Nearby are several pubs, a pizzeria, an Indian
restaurant, a garage and a shop.
The location provides an ideal mooring for the boat on the
River Gade at its junction with the Grand Union Canal at Hunton Bridge.
