About the Boat

close to  Abbots Langley and Watford

Dick's Folly was purpose built to the design of the Project. The boat accommodates a maximum of 12 passengers (see notes on accommodation for more details). She is a traditional built narrowboat, laid in 1987 and fitted out during 1988. Internally, the pine cladding provides a warm and cosy atmosphere. It should be noted that the boat is not designed for wheelchair use. However we strive to cater for any other disabilities, where we can do so in safety.

(Community boats with disabled facilities can be found through the National Community Boats Association)

Our base offers secure, off street parking for several vehicles for those using the boat. The site has water, electricity, a barbeque and rubbish disposal/ recycling. Nearby are several pubs, a pizzeria, an Indian restaurant, a garage and a shop.

The location provides an ideal mooring for the boat on the River Gade at its junction with the Grand Union Canal at Hunton Bridge.
